We believe honesty creates trust — and quiet spaces need both.
At The Quiet Mirror, your thoughts are your own.
This space was created to offer gentle reflection — not tracking, not data capture, and not judgment. We believe privacy is a form of respect. Here’s what that means in practice.
Our Chatbot
The Quiet Mirror chatbot has been custom-built and carefully taught for this purpose: to offer gentle, emotionally-aware support without judgment or pressure.
It’s designed to reflect calmly back to you — validating, not fixing.
We currently use a third-party tool called Chatbase to power these responses. Chatbase connects to OpenAI’s language model to generate each reply based on what you type.
You are never asked for your name, email, or any login to use the chat.
What’s Private — and What Isn’t
We do not store or access your conversations. We do not know who you are. Chatbase may temporarily store your chat on their servers for performance reasons.
You can read Chatbase’s full privacy policy here: 👉 https://www.chatbase.co/privacy-policy
We never see what you write — but we believe in being honest that the chat system itself (Chatbase) may hold messages temporarily.
FAQs
Q: Is my chat truly private?
A: From our side, yes. We do not collect or review any chats. However, our chatbot provider (Chatbase) may retain chats temporarily on their servers.
Q: Can I delete my messages?
A: Not at this time. Chatbase does not offer a way to delete individual conversations. We’re working on alternatives that remove this risk entirely.
Q: Do you use cookies or trackers?
A: We use a privacy-first tool called Plausible to understand how many people visit the site and which pages they spend time with. It doesn’t use cookies, doesn’t collect personal data, and doesn’t track you across other sites. Just simple, anonymous counts so we can quietly improve what we’re building.
Q: What if I feel unsafe or in crisis?
A: The Quiet Mirror is not a substitute for therapy or emergency support. If you need immediate help, please reach out to a qualified support line. The AI has been carefully designed to offer signposts to appropriate support if you ask for help — or if you appear to be in distress or danger. It will always ask gently before sharing resources. We hold this boundary with care, because your safety matters.
